We attended March Brass 2000's "125th birthday" concert on Saturday.

brighouse & rastrick band

What a celebration it was!

March's own brass band opened the concert in good celebratory fashion with a program that was excellent, especially the second set.

Then it was time for the masterful performance from the Champion Band, Brighouse and Rastrick. Along with their bandmaster's line in chat. It turns out that the Brighouse and Rastrick band is only 10 years senior to March's Band, one formed in 1881 and the other in 1891. This led him to suggest that, in 10 years, March Brass could catch the champions.

The really great thing was that it was a full house with an audience that obviously enjoyed the concert as much as we did.

There are still 2 great musical events coming up in October and I hope that we will have full houses then!

The Budapest Café Orchestra is coming to Chatteris Music Society bringing their specialist high performance entertainment to Chatteris for the first time on this October evening. We believe this will be a truly unique event for Chatteris. We can expect to hear Czardas, East European and Russian folk tunes and more played on balalaikas, accordians, and something called a saz (amongst other more usual instruments).
